Memes have become an exceedingly popular trend in the past year and Smarty Had A Party, an online elegant disposable dinnerware company, makes sure to add their own weekly contribution of original photos to the ever-growing Internet collection. The creators of the Smarty memes, titled Smarty/Not So Smarty, find comical real-life situations that they cleverly put into words and then use as text on top of relevant photos. Each situation is broken up into two lines, the first stating the Smart(y), ideal side of the situation and the second describing the Not So Smart(y), pitfall that actually occurs. Each week, the pictures are shared through social mediums such as Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter where fans are encouraged to comment on the photos with their thoughts as well as their very own Smarty/Not So Smarty.
A couple Smarty/Not So Smarty fan favorites included:
Stalking crush on Facebook…SMARTY.
Accidentally liking his/her status from 2007…NOT SO SMARTY.
Being friendly with the cashier at the grocery store…SMARTY
Shaking his hand and introducing yourself when he was only reaching for your basket….NOT SO SMARTY
An enthusiastic Smarty/Not So Smarty follower posted the following example as a comment on one of Smarty’s past memes:
My husband went shopping with me....SMARTY
I forgot him at the mall....NOT SO SMARTY
Adam C. Dennis, human resources at Smarty Had A Party, said, “When I need a good laugh, I know I can always turn to Smarty’s Facebook page and that’s what we hope our fans do too. Our company is dedicated to making our customers happy and sometimes that happiness can come from sharing in a good joke.”
