Harp Score Editing Services Now Available Online!

The Harp Legacy Project was initiated in order to assist composers in the creation of viable notation for the harp. All edited scores will be donated to the Sousa Archives where my life and works are being preserved.

July 31, 2012 - PRLog -- My name is Dr. Shirley Meyer Blankenship harpist/composer.  After years of encountering harp parts that were either awkwardly written and/or impossible to play, I initiated The Harp Legacy Project.  I am in the process of presenting my services to composers who may be interested in composing works for the harp, or who have composed works that have not been edited by a professional harpist.

I invite you to take a peek at my website: www.theharplegacyproject.com  My mission is to assist composers in the creation of viable and idiomatic harp notation in order to make their scores more accessible to potential performers.  These edited scores are more likely to attract performers who will be spared many hours of preparatory work before even beginning to come to terms with the musical structures.  After recently viewing the results of my editing of a composition, a New York harpist commented:
"CONGRATULATIONS!!!  You deserve a human rights award from Amnesty International.  You've just saved every harpist who plays that part from being tortured!"

You will find "before and after" pages on my website along with explanatory commentary and a complete set of "before and after" pages for Progeny, a monumental work for cello and harp by Matthew Fields. http://www.matthewfields.net/Progeny/Progeny_BeforenAfter...  Thank you for your interest!
