PRLog (Press Release) - Jul. 31, 2012 - SUN VALLEY, ID,  – The river rafting company with the reputation of running the most luxurious trips and camps in the West announces availability on fall 2012 fishing/glamping adventures on the Middle Fork of the Salmon, the most pristine, free-flowing river system in the Lower 48.

From New Mexico to Colorado and Utah, reports of low water, hot conditions and as a result overly stressed trout populations have kept the serious angler away. But Idaho’s Far and Away Adventures (http://far-away.com/) reports that the fishing is excellent this summer in the northern Rockies and expects normal-to-exceptional conditions for the fall.

Melding world-class fly fishing and luxury camping on Idaho’s Middle Fork of the Salmon River, 6-day / 5-night adventures are priced at $2,750 per person for anglers and non-fishing participants. The 2012 trip dates are Aug 27-Sept. 1, Sept. 6-11 and Sept.14-19.

Another option is to add an additional day of angling on another legendary trout stream. A 7-day / 6-night package includes five nights on the Middle Fork plus a bonus day of fishing on Silver Creek, a spring-fed waterway that in the early 1950s lured Ernest Hemingway to Idaho. Interested parties are asked to inquire about current pricing (Ph: 800-232-8588).

This adventure for seasoned and novice anglers and non-fishing companions includes the guided fishing / luxury camping experience, use of two-person fishing craft, one night at the upscale Sun Valley Lodge, and a full day guided fishing trip to Silver Creek, one of the most legendary trout streams in the West. Hemingway, Gary Cooper and Gregory Peck all helped put this incredible fishery on the map.

“In the fall when fly fishing is at its peak, an experienced angler chasing Westslope Cutthroat Trout on the Middle Fork can bring 100 fish a day back to the boat,” said Steve Lentz, owner. “We advocate resource conservation and are very sensitive to the proper handling of wild trout. We are more than happy to release your catch in a manner that least impacts the fish, after pictures are taken of course!”

The native fish populations here have made what Lentz called “a phenomenal come-back” thanks to a catch and release program instituted in 1974.

Far and Away Adventures founders Steve and Annie Lentz have designed their fall fishing safaris to appeal to both anglers and to non-fishing companions by making hikes, nature interpretation and ample down-time for photography and/or relaxing available.

“So many fly fishing destinations cater just to the fisherman and not to the interests of the other members of the family or party,” says Lentz. “While the Middle Fork is absolutely a blue ribbon dry fly fishery, there’s much more adventure here than meets the eye.”

In addition to fishing while standing on the shore or in the river itself, boats are appointed with fishing frames dedicated to fore and aft positions with swivel seats and brace to accommodate anglers. Mahogany drift boats are also available for charter.

Far and Away Adventures’ programs include all ground transportation, deluxe organic and locally sourced meals, all luxury tenting equipment, staff and guides.  Personal items, guide and staff gratuities and Forest Service fees not included.

The pace of the day sans have-tos revolves around guests. A light spread for early risers is followed by a later made-to-order breakfast.  On the water, an organic feast serves as lunch. Formally served appetizers surface around 7 p.m. followed by a four-course, linen-draped, candlelight dinner with regional wines and micro beers. Solar power lights the camp and heats water for showers. State-of-art tents with elevated beds, flannel linens, carpets and nightstands ensure sweet dreams.

Far and Away Adventures has been sharing the excitement of paddling with adventuresome guests since 1980. Simply, the wonders of nature and those created by Far and Away Adventures for guests plying these and other privileged waters create a new category for those who seek experiences above and beyond the ordinary. Far and Away Adventures’ guests are moved beyond world-class into a universe where luxury and wilderness blend marvelously together.
