Robert Redford Wraps Filming in Baja, Speaks Well of Region

Redford to Star as Sole Cast Member in “All is Lost” Movie Filmed in Baja California, Mexico

July 31, 2012 - PRLog -- ROSARITO, Mexico – Renowned actor, director and producer Robert Redford wrapped up filming All is Lost, a new film that was produced in Baja California, Mexico this summer. Redford, who traveled and stayed in Baja during the filming, announced his fondness of the region during a meeting with State Governor Jose Guadalupe Osuna Millán and Secretary of Tourism Juan Tintos Funcke.

Alongside Oscar nominated J. C. Chandor, who wrote and directed the film, Redford said that during the nearly two months he was in the state he visited many areas and was amazed with so many beautiful things. He toured the Tijuana Cultural Center, traveled to Rancho La Puerta Spa in Tecate and tasted the Puerto Nuevo Style Lobster. He also experienced the wines of the region and learned about Baja Med cuisine. He said his favorite dish is enchiladas, "accompanied by good tequila."

When speaking about Baja California, Redford said, "I think it’s unfortunate that the media being the way it is, it focuses on sensational issues and danger is more sensational than happiness, and so I’m sorry, considering my love of Mexico.” He added, “So I hope us being here, talking about the fact that there are wonderful parts of Mexico that are wonderful to visit, that people will come.”

“The Mexican people are very joyous, they express joy in such a wonderful way, and the people here have been extremely nice to us,” he said. Redford also said that filming in Baja California is ideal because of support from the three levels of government and the local talent. Governor Osuna extended the invite for Redford to participate in the upcoming event Tijuana Innovadora (http://www.tijuanainnovadora.com/), to which the actor responded he would like to attend if his schedule allows.

All is Lost was filmed in Rosarito Beach, Mexico at Baja Studios, which was built by FOX for the movie, Titanic. This is Redford’s first starring role in seven years.
