Reading is Fundamental Provides Books to Kids at ‘A Labor of Love Makeover’ on “Designing Spaces” on Lifetime TV
Project Sponsors Reading is Fundamental along with Carl Buddig & Co. Nourish Children’s Minds and Bodies on “Kids Spaces of Hope – A Labor of Love Makeover” series
(Pompano Beach, FL – July 30, 2012) “Designing Spaces” on Lifetime television features Reading is Fundamental, the largest non-profit children’s literacy organization in the U.S., as a partner of the “Kids Spaces of Hope – A Labor of Love Makeover” at the Kids in Distress campus. The two-episode series will air on Thursday, August 2nd and August 9th at 7:30 am (ET/PT).
Reading is Fundamental joins forces with Carl Buddig and Co. to help makeover the library in the children’s Activity Center by giving Kids in Distress over 1000 books to stock on the shelves, creating a warm and nurturing environment where the kids can learn and grow.
Ernestine Benedict, RIF’s VP of Sales and Marketing is featured in the segment. “Most of these kids have had no access to books – they are considered a luxury – so they wouldn’t develop the vocabulary and reading skills they’d need to succeed in school,” says Benedict. “We hope to empower these kids to discover the power of reading.”
RIF and Carl Buddig are project sponsors of this special “Kids Spaces of Hope – A Labor of Love Makeover” show airing on Lifetime TV, where the children’s activity center at Kids in Distress, a nationally accredited agency providing safe shelter and services for children who have been abused and neglected, undergoes a complete makeover to create a safe, educational and clean environment.
“We are thrilled to have Reading is Fundamental on board as a sponsor for this makeover project. The kids will enjoy the wide selection of books RIF is providing to them for many years to come, and hopefully set them on their path to life-long learning,” says Lysa Liemer, Executive VP of Programming and COO, “Designing Spaces”.
