Peter Andreas Kopp Appointed Incoming Editor-in-Chief of Thyroid Journal

July 30, 2012 - PRLog -- New Rochelle, NY—We are pleased to announce that Peter Andreas Kopp, MD has been appointed the fourth Editor-in-Chief of Thyroid (http://www.liebertpub.com/thy), the Official Journal of the American Thyroid Association (ATA) (http://www.thyroid.org), published by Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers (http://www.liebertpub.com). Dr. Kopp succeeds Charles H. Emerson, MD, who has provided strong leadership for the journal over the last five years. The latest Journal Impact Factor is 4.792.  

Dr. Peter Kopp is Associate Professor in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Molecular Medicine, and serves as Director ad interim of the Center for Genetic Medicine at the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University in Chicago. Dr. Kopp received his MD degree from the University of Berne, Switzerland in 1985. He completed his training in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at the same institution. In 1993, he joined the Division of Endocrinology at Northwestern University. His clinical activities focus on patients with thyroid dysfunction and thyroid cancer, and he is a member of the Thyroid Panel of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. Dr. Kopp’s research interests focus primarily on the molecular basis of congenital thyroid disorders and thyroid hormone synthesis. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Thyroid Association (http://www.thyroid.org), the leading organization focused on thyroid biology and the prevention and treatment of thyroid disorders. Dr. Kopp has published more than 120 publications in the field of endocrinology and endocrine genetics, including book chapters in major text books.

Dr. Kopp will assume his duties in August 2012, with a full transition to Editor-in-Chief in January 2013.
