Brighton's Vintage scene turns Carnival!

Come and join Vintage Carnival fun held in the grounds of Blind Veterans UK Centre in Ovingdean, Brighton on Saturday 8th September from 11am – 5.30pm. Entry is free.

July 30, 2012 - PRLog -- Chief Executive of Brighton and Hove Albion FC, Paul Barber will be opening the carnival at 11.30am followed by a performance from the football team’s cheerleaders, Gully’s Girls! There will also be entertainment throughout the day by Dave Master’s Big Band and Kas the new Forces Sweetheart – performing hits from Glen Miller, Count Basie and Duke Ellington.

Brighton is well known for its vintage quirkiness so adding to this carousal will be beer and stylish cocktails, vintage vehicles, stalls full of vintage artefacts, fabulous hats and frocks to purchase and an impressive art exhibition of the work by blind veterans. There are also many more fun activities to enjoy!
If you are interested in helping on the day or bringing some of your home made cakes and tarts to sell, please email your details to ovingdean@blindveterans.org.uk.

All money raised will go to Blind Veterans UK ex-Service men and women to help them regain greater independence and improve their quality of life.

The event organiser, Maddy Carr describes the carnival: “With the celebrations this year for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee it seems appropriate for us to continue that vintage theme through our own event and recreate some of the 1920s to 1950s bygone styles and memories for a good cause”.

Notes to editors:

Blind Veterans UK (formerly St Dustan’s) is a national charity that believes no-one who has served our country should have to battle blindness alone. It provides blind and vision impaired ex-Service men and women with lifelong support including welfare support, rehabilitation, training, residential and respite care.

The charity needs £100 million over 5 years to provide lifelong support to blind ex-Service men and women.
