ChallengeScape: A Cure for Summer Boredom?

PRLog (Press Release) - Jul. 28, 2012 - A recent study found that an overwhelming number of teens and young adults suffer from boredom. The study also points out that bored teens are more likely to engage in destructive behaviors compared to engaged teens. One teen, Devin Kerns, has decided to tackle the issue. In order to bridge this information gap, Devin created ChallengeScape.com, a website that allows users to find and add local places and events.
“My friends and I used to sit around trying to figure out something to do. I realized the issue wasn’t so much that there was nothing to do, but rather we just weren’t aware of any of the fun things to do in our area.” Devin said.  

Since everyone is interested in different things, these things to do can easily be sorted by category to allow users to quickly find something that they find fun and engaging. In addition to this, Devin has created what he calls “challenges”.  A challenge is essentially a dare from another user that is open for anyone to attempt. Users can get their friends together and try to complete these challenges which range from something as simple as visiting a unique place to an elaborate scavenger hunt.

Users receive points for completing these challenges and compete for prizes by trying to get as many points as possible. ChallengeScape is currently open to new users, but their kickoff event will not be held until late August. While ChallengeScape is currently for Bay Area California users, Devin says if it starts to catch on he will gladly open it up to a wider geographical area.
