The Lifestyle Empowerment Symposium Presents Chuck Brown Day At The

July 28, 2012 - PRLog -- Washington, DC – Saturday, August 18, 2012 will be a date to go down in Washington, DC and Go Go history as more than ten (10) historic Go Go bands will grace the same stage, on the same day at the same time for an all-day event dedicated to honor the Godfather of Go Go Chuck Brown.  An event of this magnitude hasn’t occurred since Go Go LIVE at the Capital Centre in 1987; Chuck Brown Day will be taking place at the Washington Convention Center and will feature old and new Go Go band performances.  This monumental red carpet event is sure to attract people from state to state as well as all generations, to witness DC’s birthed genre of music and ‘almost’ hidden talent.  With the genre of music generally having little to no familiarity outside of the DMV (DC|MD|VA) area, nevertheless Go Go continues to evolve and is being recognized and sampled more today by national and international artists.  
   
The Lifestyle Empowerment Symposium presents Chuck Brown Day hosted by R&B crooner Christopher Williams and Chuck Brown’s daughter KK.  Performances include EU featuring Sugar Bear, The Original Soul Searchers, Suttle Thought, Trouble Funk, Junkyard, Backyard, Ayre Rayde, India Arie, Dwele, Calvin Richardson and other special surprise performances.  This will be the first time The Original Soul Searchers and others have performed together in years, this show is for all music lovers to mark on the calendar. There will also be performances to pay homage to the fallen Go Go soldiers.  Performances just added include Hot Cold Sweat, Ms Yendy & the &ffiliated Project, VYBE Band, DC’s own songstress Reesa Renee and Go Go’s infamous WHAT BAND with more acts to be announced!  “It’s going to be a BLACK OUT in the city,” says Tubb of Tubb Entertainment.  There is no other event to attend August 18; Chuck Brown Day is the only destination for all ages, young and old to come together for one purpose…Chuck Brown.  

Kappstone Media, LLC will present The Lifestyle Empowerment Symposium which focuses on delivering messages of Education, Empowerment and Restoration in a fun and uplifting environment.  The symposium is the first of its kind in Washington, DC; three (3) days of workshops providing personal and professional enrichment for attendees in an entertaining and engaging environment with educational, informational and motivational roundtable discussions.  The Lifestyle Empowerment Symposium has a distinguished list of panelists including Russell Simmons (Philantropist|Mogul), Rev Run Simmons (Inspirational Speaker), Tia Smith (Director of Programming & Production for TVOne), John Thompson III (Head Basketball Coach of Georgetown University), Mitzi Miller (Editor & Chief of JET Magazine), Darrell Barnes (Motivational Speaker), Glenn Ivey (Former State Attorney of Maryland), Kelvin Boston (Financial Journalist), Lt Col Tyra Sellers (The US Army), Ty Gray-El (Author of Breath of my Ancestors), Lt Col Fife (The US Army), Angela Franco (Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce) and additional panelists as well.  Other events include attendees such as Angela Simmons, Kevin Durant, Dwele, Jeff Majors, Calvin Richardson, Allure, Nonchalant, Seven Sons of Soul and more.

Portions of the proceeds will benefit The Chuck Brown Foundation in support of continuing his legacy.

An annual event that will pay homage to the Godfather of Go Go Chuck Brown, as he paved the way for a great deal of artists in the nation’s capital and beyond.  Go Go should be recognized globally and fusing a diverse group of individuals for one event will aid in its national recognition.  Chuck Brown Day is dedicated to raise money in honor of the Chuck Brown Foundation and eventually to begin the building process for the Go Go Hall of Fame.  This event will generate satisfaction from all generations of Go Go and music lovers.
