July 27, 2012 - PRLog -- Rockywoods Announces the  Availability of Recycled Nylon Fabric
Recycled nylon fabric reduces greenhouse emissions, marine and landfill waste.

Loveland, CO – Rockywoods has partnered with a leading manufacturer of high performance nylon and polyester fabrics, to make the first recycled nylon fabric available to small manufacturers and individual sewer.  The fabric, regenTM 210D Coated Recycled Nylon Fabric, will be available in late August 2012.

The need for environmental protection is growing in importance as consumers become more concerned about sustainability and damage to the environment. To address the need for environmental protection,  Rockywoods' partners have developed techniques for recycling discarded nylon products, like fishing nets, into nylon filament yarns for textile use.  Every 2200 lbs of regen™  210D Coated Recycled Nylon Fabric from Rockywoods reduces atmospheric CO2 emissions by 4600 lbs, compared to the standard virgin nylon fabric process.

Bill Szmyd, Rockywoods Vice-President of Operations, says that “Rockywoods is delighted to be able to offer a environmentally friendly product that has the same quality and performance as virgin nylon fabrics.  In addition to reducing greenhouse gases, recycled nylon also reduces marine and landfill waste.”

“For years Rockywoods has been asked by its customers for a wide range of recycled nylon fabrics.  People like the idea of not sending everything to the landfill.  This initial fabric offering can be used for bags, purses, backpacks, linings, dust covers, and lots of light duty waterproof protection gear” says Szmyd.   “Rockywoods can see offering recycled nylon fabric in a variety of different weight fabrics and finishes over time.”

“This is really a break-though for recycled nylon fabrics, no one else offers this. Another way to visualize the  amount of greenhouse gas reduction is that it would take 125, fifty year old deciduous trees a whole year to absorb 4600 lbs of  CO2” Szmyd concludes.
