In this ‘New Age’ piano lesson, students learn how to compose their own unique music. When asked how he teaches composition, Weiss responds…
“It’s all about repetition and contrast. I teach students how to compose a simple 8-bar phrase first. It’s a very doable goal for beginners who sometimes feel they must come up with 100-bars at their first attempt. By working in small sections, I show students how musical phrases are constructed, and then used in composition.”
The new lesson offered at Weiss’s website is really something different. It begins with a somewhat familiar classical sound, but then gradually changes to something more folksy.
Traditionally, piano lessons consist of a live teacher, a method book, and weekly visits that include back and forth trips on the highway. The Internet is changing all this as more and more are searching for what they want online.
Weiss, who also teaches privately has this to say…
“The Yellow Pages used to be the first thing prospective students reached for when thinking about taking piano lessons. Not anymore. Thanks to the Internet, anyone can find what they’re looking for. They can also find many non-traditional types of instruction that simply don’t exist in the brick and mortar world.”
Besides the new lesson, there are over 150 others offered at Weiss's website. It's all part of a comprehensive piano course that promises to show those interested how to play piano in the New Age style. More information at http://www.Quiescencemusic.com
