CORNWALL LEADS UK’S RAW REVOLUTION!

Cornwall is to play host to an event that will be the first of its kind to hit the UK, as a “raw revolution” sweeps the globe.

“Raw Fest” is to be held at Stithians Showground starting Friday August 31 finishing Monday September 3, showcasing the abundant health, energy and love for raw vegan food and a healthy lifestyle, with over 1000 people expected to visit each day.

Top international raw food experts, chefs, health and nutritional advisors, alongside local producers, will be exhibiting and presenting at the festival to highlight the benefits and enjoyment of raw vegan food, wild food and herbs as well as yoga sessions, tai chi and dance workshops, strength training, relaxation, different types of massage, live music, circus acts and a kids tent.

Leah Katia, from local company In Touch Body Awareness, is the founder of Raw Fest and explains why Cornwall is the perfect location for the first event of its kind in the UK:

“The raw revolution is sweeping the globe, but the UK is only starting to see glimpses of this happening, so the idea for a raw food festival was born in Cornwall.  Cornwall is a gorgeous location and boasts great fresh produce from local suppliers as well as wild food – especially seaweed!  Being healthy and happy is not just about what you eat, but it’s also understanding your body and enjoying relaxation, fun, movement and great music. With the experts and talent Raw Fest is bringing together this is going to be an amazing event!"

Leah continues, “The event is aimed at people who care about their health and healthy eating/lifestyle alongside amazing food, but perhaps don’t know much about the concept of raw food/conscious eating. Not only are there a wide range of health benefits and delicious gourmet dishes, raw food can be more cost effective!”

Huge in the US and Europe, raw vegan and gourmet raw vegan food is a new concept which is only now starting to come to the UK.  With new things often arriving in London ahead of the rest of the country, Cornwall will be leading the way with this new trend expected to grip the nation.

Kate Magic is one of the world’s best loved raw food celebrities, founder of Raw Living and acclaimed superfood and raw nutrition expert.  She has several best-selling books on the raw lifestyle under her belt and will be the keynote speaker at the event.

Boris Lauser - top raw gourmet chef, culinary artist, consultant for raw food vegan restaurants and Ayurvedic Yoga massage therapist will be running the b.alive Café throughout the festival, sharing his experience as well as his delicious raw vegan food.

Other speakers include Soren Wolff – from Denmark who is a Body, Exercise, Nutritional Expert and Educator; Heather Gardner – Educator in Raw, Health, Wild Edibles, Natural Beauty, Natural Remedies and will be holding Kundalini yoga classes; and Beverly Bird – Clinical Nutritionist and Live Blood Practitioner who will be sharing information about digestive health, alkaline diets and blood analysis.

With movement an integral part of wellbeing, there will be also be workshops throughout the 3 days with Cornish Nos Lowen, Salsa, Asian (Bollywood style), Tai Chi, Qi Gong and Capoeira.  There will also be circus performances and live music throughout the festival, with band including Cornish band Dalla and Quijada.

Leah added, “We are inviting some of the best speakers and trainers from across the globe to ensure a 3 day festival packed with information and entertainment.  We want to show how raw food can still be gourmet food and how the result of adopting more raw food and alternative practices is increased physical energy, more stamina, more mental clarity and focus, greater sence of contentment, wellbeing and is well known for aiding recovery from many illnesses. We hope that lots of people from Cornwall, and further afield, will attend the Raw Fest to see for themselves in beautiful surroundings – making a 3-day holiday of it or just visiting for the day”.

Further info - A raw food diet mainly consists of fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds, sea vegetables and superfoods that have not been heated above 42 degrees.  Most people eating in this way are vegan but some chose to add raw dairy products to their diets, with some even including raw meat.  It is usual to include a little cooked food, but providing at least 50% of your diet is raw, you will feel the benefits.
