July 24, 2012 - PRLog -- On Monday, July 16, 2012, over five thousand delegates from Christians United for Israel (CUFI) convened at Washington DC for the seventh annual CUFI Washington Summit. The purpose of this nonpartisan summit was for these delegates to represent to our government the million plus members of CUFI who want America to support Israel in its policies and national decisions.

During the summit, attendees heard from national and international speakers including Pastor John Hagee, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren, Frank Gaffney– President of the Center for Security Policy, Senator Joseph Lieberman, and many more. On Tuesday night, July 17, over 5,000 came together to celebrate A Night to Honor Israel. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann was the keynote speaker; she addressed the threats that face Israel and the United States and why our influence and action is so very important. She was received with overwhelming warmth and great enthusiasm. Pastor Tim Burt, one of Living Word’s associate pastors, stated, “It is a dinner event so celebratory and powerful, it is hard to come up with words to do it justice. ... The crowd broke out in cheering, clapping, flag waving, and even dancing throughout the event.”

On Wednesday, over 4,000 CUFI attendees had appointments with approximately 90% of the congress people and senators on Capitol Hill to meet with and discuss U.S. support of Israel, America’s greatest ally in the world. The vast majority of our leaders was in support of Israel and pledged their continued support.

Regarding general response to the summit, Pastor Tim wrote in his blog: “Every year, I meet a number of Jewish people who have heard what we are doing and come out to our events—even [to] Washington DC—to see for themselves. They are almost always astounded with shock, surprise, and abounding joy from beholding Christians who work to expose anti-Semitism while showing great love and support for the Jewish people and Israel.”

Pastor Mac Hammond and his wife, Lynne, led almost 200 passionate supporters of Israel from Minnesota plus many others from the four-state regional area to the summit. (Pastor Mac Hammond is the regional director of the CUFI chapters in Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin; he is also an executive board member of CUFI.)

Living Word Christian Center and Pastors Mac and Lynne Hammond are devout leaders in uniting Christians in the support of Israel. The CUFI Washington Summit powerfully educates and rallies Christians who are passionate about supporting Israel. As it says in Isaiah 62:1, “For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet, till her righteousness shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch.”

Founded in 1980, Living Word Christian Center is a local, nondenominational church in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, led by Pastor Mac Hammond. Through various ministries and outreaches, Living Word continually strives to reach people, touch lives, and make a difference.
