Former Night Club Manager Opens New Humboldt Park Breakfast Hot Spot

PRLog (Press Release) - Jul. 24, 2012 - Sarcastic Chicago native, Layla Malia K., has taken quite a journey to create her new breakfast joint, Grandma J's Local Kitchen. After moving to LA, becoming a bar and night club manager, and running a Burlesque show in a well-known nighttime hot spot, she had a new vision.  She decided to create a comfortable little nook, where she could serve up farm-fresh eggs and Swedish coffee while sharing her eclectic music playlists with her guests.

“I love the night life, but am more passionate about cooking up locally-grown food from my family farm,” said Layla. “Although, we do like to pretend it's a BYOB bar, with our mimosa and bloody mary spreads, and what we've come to know as 'Champagne Sundays!'”

Not only is the menu packed with bold, organic flavors, but the staff has the personality to match. From Layla’s Second City stand-up background, to Chef Amy’s fast-tongued, witty sarcasm, this place is more like brunch-and-a-show.

Guests can check out the photo-adorned walls and munch on freebie fruit plates while sitting at one of the six cozy tables, or the house-dubbed “VIP Bar,” waiting for their food to be prepared.

With locally grown ingredients, good prices and great ambiance, the recently opened spot is sure to become a neighborhood favorite.
