The announcement comes after receiving a letter from the President earlier this month, acknowledging receipt of the portraits which feature uncanny images of President Obama and First Lady, Michelle. The letter reads: “Michelle and I would like to extend our deep thanks for your gifts. Your generosity is much appreciated. Each day, I am moved by the thoughtful gestures of people from across our country, and I am touched by your kindness.”
Hamilton took a chance to deliver the artwork during a scheduled fundraising event for the Democratic Nominee in Los Angeles in May. Learning of the event location, she dropped off the two pieces leaving a note which included her contact information in hopes of a reply. "It was just a leap of faith, I felt like it was the right thing to do. Even if they didn’t make it into the hands of the President, what would I lose? Two pieces of wood? I think it was worth the risk."
The signature pieces were created as part of the collection “STAIND” produced earlier this year. The 40 plus artwork series which are made of Wood and Wood Stain, uniquely immortalize iconic figures (Past and Present) from the worlds of Music, Sports and Politics.
Since its creation, Hamilton has taken the artwork to local shows and events like the Downtown LA Art Walk which provides her an opportunity to showcase her versatility as an artist.
Currently, the full collection of “STAIND” can be viewed at Club Hall of Fame's “The Loft”, located at 12823 S. Avalon Blvd, in Los Angeles (http://lonzo1.wix.com/
