“I felt very discouraged,”
Rauly tried expensive, special eating plans (“effective for a while, then gained it all back”), working out with a personal trainer (“seemed like everyone was staring at me, judging me, it felt very uncomfortable”)
Then he heard about bootcamp . . . and it changed his life.
Rauly has lost 42 pounds since last May. He weighed 252 pounds when he first spoke with Anna Dornier, owner of Transform FX Fitness in Concord, and started the bootcamp program. Today he weighs 210 pounds and has targeted his goal of 190, a weight he hasn’t seen since he was high school student over 30 years ago.
“Everyone is different. Everyone has a different metabolism and physical makeup,” explains Dornier, who works with men and women of all backgrounds and physical skill levels. “The bootcamp program is much more than simply exercise. We also help people develop healthy eating habits, proper breathing, getting enough sleep, and having fun.”
“It’s the ‘fun’ part that makes the biggest difference in my opinion,” explains Rauly. “I actually look forward to working out.” Being with a great bunch of people, telling jokes, exercising together, it’s like a family atmosphere where we all encourage each other and support each other.”
“I was apprehensive when I first started,” Rauly explains. “But this program is different. Everyone’s here to work out and get in shape. There’s no judging, no embarrassment. We’re all here for the same reason. The energy in the room is great.
I definitely feel supercharged and invigorated by the end of each session.”
Four of the key areas of focus at Transform FX Fitness include breathing, eating, exercising and sleeping. “To have a well-rounded program for maximum, sustainable results, we recommend focusing on these targeted areas,” Dornier explains.
BREATHING – “It’s critical to breath properly when exercising but also during the day when things happen, when the stress of everyday life starts to build up. Proper breathing techniques relieve stress and help you think more clearly.”
EATING – “Obviously a major component of weight loss, we start each person with a cleanse and 30-day diet challenge. Our goal is to effectively transform your eating habits to include healthy, sustainable food that your body will use and burn effectively.”
EXERCISING – “Every person is different but we all need and respond to the same, basic, effective movements. That’s why everyone, beginners, intermediate, and advanced, all work out together. It’s empowering and motivating for everyone.”
SLEEPING – “Let’s face it, we live in a fast-paced world, there’s never enough time for anything. One of the key areas we stress is the need for healthy, restful sleep every night. When you breathe properly, exercise regularly and eat right, you also sleep much better.”
“Anna explained to us that the body releases growth hormones when you sleep and recharges and replenishes itself,” Rauly says. “My problem was that I wasn’t getting enough sleep. My body wasn’t getting that important regeneration time. After I started (the bootcamp workouts), I have more energy than I’ve had in years and I’m sleeping well every night. It’s really an amazing transition.”
“This program has changed my life,” he says. It really works. I’m thrilled with the results. My wife, my kids, my business associates, they have definitely noticed the positive changes I’ve made in the past 10 months.”
His next goal is to reach 190 pounds, his weight in high school. Is it really attainable? “Oh yes,” he says with confidence. “It won’t be easy, of course, but I’m now on a definite, sustainable path. It’s so exciting to visualize being at the same weight I was way back in the day. Oh yes, I’ll definitely do it,” he says.
“Yes, he will achieve that goal,” Anna says with similar conviction. “Rauly’s doing great work and really putting in the effort. He’s an inspiration to all of us.”
