Construction Begins on La Posada De Guadalupe Men's Shelter

July 23, 2012 - PRLog -- San Diego, California – International design firm, Ware Malcomb, is proud to announce the start of construction for Catholic Charities’ Homeless Men’s Shelter. The new facility is located at 2478 Impala Drive, Carlsbad, California.

Ware Malcomb San Diego was chosen to provide civil engineering, surveying, and architectural design services for the demolition and replacement of La Posada’s three existing buildings. The three new buildings will total 13,800 square feet and serve as housing for up to 100 homeless men and farm-workers.

The new freestanding wood-framed, stucco, slab-on-grade buildings will feature a design that reflects the California Mission-style architecture. There will be a covered outdoor dining patio with a barbeque area as well as an inner courtyard for special events and leisure. With an open floor plan and private quarters, the interiors will consist of dormitories, an office area, a medical treatment room, locker rooms, showers, a dining hall and kitchen. The dormitories will be constructed with exposed wood rafters and open ceiling.

The General Contractor is RSM2 Contractors, Inc. and the anticipated project completion date is May, 2013.
