ProcureCon Financial Services’ speakers give insight into their key projects

Ahead of the inaugural ProcureCon Financial Services meeting, takes place on 26th & 27th September in London, several of the event’s keynote speakers share some of the projects they’re currently working on, and the challenges facing them in 2012:

Key project you are currently working on:
All related to the refresh of BPO agreements originally implemented during our business transformation program in 2007.

What you foresee being your key challenge in 2012:
The enablement of innovation i.e. how do we harness the power of the supply chain to drive incremental value for our customers?

How you are overcoming this:
•Creating an environment to harvest external insights.
•Use of external insights to create a positive disruption of our internal status quo.
•Re energising our engagement model with internal stakeholders to create an even more proactive relationship.
•Rolling out an "education program" to our internal stakeholders to provide process knowledge, practical competencies such as negotiating skills, and external awareness.


Sandrine Brun, Procurement Director, Europe, Aviva

Key procurement project I am currently working on:
•Develop Claims Procurement capabilities in the General Insurance business units across the continental and eastern Europe.
•Embed of the new risk management framework and lead first compliance exercise throughout the 6 markets across the continental and eastern Europe.
•Seed up the full roll-out of the Group purchasing solution for spend visibility, sourcing management, contract management and supplier management.

What I foresee being my key challenges for the next 12 months:
•While ensuring BAU, oversight the transition of procurement activities from existing regional operating model to the new simplified worldwide structure to be set up in S2 2012
•Support the existing team during the uncertainty period further the announcement of the restructuring programme
•Take on future new assignment as part of the new worldwide operating structure

How I am overcoming these challenges:
•Maintain market and Group intimacy to ease the transition phase
•Focus the team on delivery of high and sustainable procurement performance
•Ensure proper but regular communication using a range of channels at my disposal

Key procurement project you are currently working on:
We are currently undertaking a complete review of our procurement operation which has resulted in a review and the creation of a 3rd Party Risk Management Framework, the implementation of a Procure to Pay and expenses solution and a new Supplier Management Programme.

What you foresee being your key challenges for the next 12 months:
Implementing and driving business and cultural change as a result of our transformation programme.

How you are overcoming these challenges:
We are overcoming these challenges by focusing on communication and training for our stakeholders.
