The particular show we saw was a retro musical based mainly, but not exclusively, on Elvis’s songs, the majority of which he didn’t collaborate on but was famous for his renditions. The cast were extremely talented but we thought the direction could have used a bit more subtlety with a few characters (i.e. the overacting was most likely due to stage direction, not the actor/actress per se, in the particular role). Aside from any criticisms of the venue, which we DID enjoy, the dinner table location was ideal for viewing the production.
All the hotel “room” are actually two-room suites with ample room for luggage and freedom of movement in the main room or parlour. Adjoining it is the double French door entrance to the bedroom. Our Queen bed was comfortable but the pillows were not (too soft and fluffy). There is a small TV in the bedroom and a larger one enclosed in an armoire in the parlour. A small bar fridge as well as a microwave are provided. The bathroom was clean and par for the course.
Generally, we enjoyed our stay but wouldn’t consider staying more than one night as there is not much to do directly in that area without travelling to nearby malls or going further into the downtown area of Toronto. The online deal we got made it very much worth the trip with the combined lodging, dinner, show, and breakfast the next morning (very good value!).
The only major criticism we have is that aside from any extra beverages which are additional costs, serving us tea or coffee after the meal should have been included. The assumption was that it was part of the package aside from any alcohol or other beverages ordered. The waiter simply asked “tea or coffee?”. It’s not that big a deal but after wonderful buffet selections, we felt we were being “nickeled and dimed”.
