“In today’s lending climate, that is hard to do for a new company that has not established much credit,” says company founder James H. Waller. So Waller, an attorney with a background in online marketing, turned to the Internet to help get his project off of the ground. “Kickstarter is saving us,” Waller said. “We wouldn’t be able to make it work any other way.”

Early Success
According to Waller, the first day of the project eased a lot of the company’s fears. “We raised over 5% of the goal within the first 24 hours. It reassured us that game-players and comic book fans care about our game and want to see it made. These backers then go onto Facebook and Twitter to get their friends to help contribute to the project as well. Good will is viral.”
