Great Play Of Chandler Adds New Classes For Fall Season

July 20, 2012 - PRLog -- A little more than half of students nationwide are enrolled in a physical education class, and by high school only a third take gym class daily, according to the National Association for Sport and Physical Education.   But Barbara Deppisch and Richard Iwanski, owners of Great Play on Ray Road and the 101 in Chandler, are making an effort to help concerned parents inject a dose of physical fitness into their children’s day.

“As more schools are forced to cut physical education in order to meet shrinking budgets, young children are not getting enough of exercise time,” said Barbara Deppisch, owner of Great Play Chandler.  “Many parents don’t know where to turn.   Most places offer competitive programs and it’s hard to find a place where the emphasis is on fitness and fun – instead of competition.  That’s why Great Play has become such a popular option.”
Great Play Chandler is adding two new programs for the fall season. Beginning August 6th, Great Play Chandler will feature a “Sports Skills & Fun Fitness Camp” and “DropNShop” Adventure Play Camp.”

The Sports Skills & Fun Fitness Camp, aimed at K to 4th grade, takes place every Wednesday from 1:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. and is designed to help parents whose kids attend schools where Wednesday is a short day.  

“Kyrene School district and many charter schools have a short day every Wednesday starting in the new school year,” added Deppisch.  “Our Wednesday sports camp offers a perfect opportunity for kids to get their exercise in a fun and safe, noncompetitive environment.”  

The “DropNShop” Adventure Play Camp is designed for ages 3 to 6 and takes place every Friday from 1 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
