CAPITOL FINANCIAL SOLUTIONS RESPONDS TO SUMMER SLOWDOWN

RALEIGH, NC (August, 2012) – According to the 2011 US Census, 10 percent of Wake County residents live in poverty and more than 26 percent are children. Capitol Financial Solutions believes these numbers are too high and the Raleigh-based financial services firm is part of a collaborative effort from several local organizations aimed at alleviating a summer slowdown of food donations.

“Whether we are from here or have traveled from far to live here, Wake County and the triangle area is a place of opportunity for everyone. When we heard the statistics, we decided to be a part of the solution,” said Benjamin J. Hedgepeth, a Capitol Financial Solutions Registered Representative and board member of the Raleigh Kiwanis Club. The Raleigh Kiwanis Club is also participating in the food drive.

According to Urban Ministries of Wake County, now is one of the most critical times for food donations because food drive donations tend to slow down in the summer when at-risk children are out of school and still need three meals a day. In addition:
•   Children who experience hunger are more likely to suffer from anxiety, depression, behavior problems, and other illness.
•   Hungry adults miss more work and consume more health care than those who do not go hungry.
