SAN FRANCISCO, CA  (7-19-12)  - The San Francisco based Golden Gate Racing Team and Richard Childress Racing Driver Development rolled into Evergreen Speedway last week with heavy hearts after hearing the news of  that longtime media specialist Jack Waterman had passed away.  Waterman had been fighting a valiant battle against cancer over the last year.
Waterman, was known in the racing and business community for his great style and passion for auto racing, especially at the driver development level. He worked countless hours not only for his media company JW Webs, he too spent days end helping young drivers of all ages with sponsorship development, web pages and most of all moral support and encouragement.
Over the last decade, Waterman worked closely with the Golden Gate Racing Team, As the team grew in size and popularity he worked closely with team owners Jim and Patti Offenbach to develop an innovative web site as well as marketing proposals. He was very closely involved in the early days of the team as names like Ryan Foster, Lee Olibas, Mike Skinner, Mike Dillon, Tim McCreadie and many more of today's big names in the sport were working their way up the ranks in NASCAR West.
"Jack was a great man that did a lot for his team over the years," said Jimi Z, owner of the Golden Gate Racing Team that has been supported by Richard Childress Racing since 2007. "He worked so hard to stick with us over the last year, that was the great work ethic he had. Hearing of his passing was the day I was hoping would never come. Jack will be missed by all of us."
Over the last three years, Waterman worked closely with GGRT/RCR media representative Bill Sullivan. Waterman and Sullivan were introduced to one another several years ago through their mutual work in local dirt track racing including Placerville and Silver Dollar Speedway as well as the representative of popular  North Bay sprint car driver Alissa Geving.
"Jack was responsible for introducing me to the Golden Gate Racing Team and RCR and its something I am forever grateful for," said Sullivan. "He was an amazing man that reached out to so many people, always willing to share his expertise and talents to better serve the motor sports community. I learned a great deal from him, not only the tools I needed to work for this great team but in life and as a person. I'm really going to miss his friendship and insight."
