British Open Golf Fans Get Free Virtual Guide to Royal Lytham

Golf fans are gearing up for this weeks British Open, getting to grips with the Royal Lytham links by taking advantage of a choice of free hi & low tech course map guides produced by Golf GPS specialists Shotmiser.

July 19, 2012 - PRLog -- Shotmisers hi-tech interactive virtual GPS is becoming a hit with fans who want to explore Royal Lytham from the comfort of their own home. The virtual GPS is accessed on the Shotmiser website. It shows the same accurate distance information and maps as used on the handheld Shotmiser GPS Units.

A convenient low-tech version is also proving popular with those planning a visit to Royal Lytham. Using the same accurate distance information and full colour hole maps taken directly from their hi-tech GPS, Shotmiser are providing a free to download & print PDF hole by hole guide to Royal Lytham.

“Fans can download the guide from the Shotmiser website, print it and take it with them to the course” says Shotmiser sales manager Mike Lloyd.

Mike continues “Often we think the pro’s just take out the big stick and launch the ball as far as possible, but the key to Lytham is avoiding the bunkers and given the rain we have been having, the punishing rough. The distance markers on the course guide will not only help spectators gauge how far each shot has been hit but also to appreciate the course management skills of the top players as they circumnavigate the hazards. That’s something that we can all learn from and take into our own games”.

Shotmiser are the first to offer a hi-tech virtual GPS guide to Royal Lytham. From the comfort of your own home anyone can explore Royal Lytham on the Shotmiser interactive virtual GPS. Load up the Royal Lytham course on the Shotmiser website and you will see the highly detailed colour map of the first hole as if you were using the actual physical Shotmiser GPS unit. Click any point on the hole map and get the distance to that point. Move on to the next hole and do the same and go through the whole course. Click the mouse to check distances to bunkers and lay up points. Each click shows the distance to that point and the remaining distance to the green centre. Use the zoom function to get a close up of the green just like on an actual handheld Shotmiser GPS Unit.

Both the hi & low tech course maps will help viewers & spectators get a real sense of how the pro’s are playing the course.

In fact the virtual unit is not limited to Royal Lytham. Shotmiser have made all of the thousands of mapped courses available to view interactively. “It’s more than likely that your local course will be amongst them. It’s a great way to check out a golf GPS” says Mike. “We really appreciate the support and enthusiasm for Shotmiser that we get from our customers, we hope we can give a bit back to golf fans everywhere”.
