Tech giant makes great strides towards total empowerment

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Jul. 19, 2012 - The Integr8 Group, South Africa’s largest privately owned ICT managed services provider, has been officially accredited with Level 4 B-BBEE (Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment) status, is regarded as a ‘Value Adding Supplier’ and is on track to achieve Level 3 recognition.

In July the company received confirmation of its status from the National Empowerment Rating Agency (NERA), a South African National Accreditation System (SANAS)-accredited verification agency, after having been fully assessed.

Formed in 2001, Integr8 is an ICT management and managed services company which employs in excess of 550 full-time professionals throughout multiple African offices.

Integr8 operates the only South African-based Nerve Centre® (www.nervecentre.co.za), providing a digital hub to manage and regulate many of the country’s leading corporations. This single point of contact allows remote access to clients enabling tier 3 support on a 24/7/365 basis.

Speaking from the company’s headquarters in Johannesburg, joint CEO, Robert Sussman, said equal opportunity and a committed, progressive approach lies at the heart of its strategy to empower individuals and communities.

“Traditionally true empowerment has been staggered at best within the ICT and telecommunications industries. Fortunately, with more structured regulation and compliance procedures in place, there is a vast improvement in the pace of economic transformation within the workplace,” says Sussman.

The criteria governing B-BBEE status is stringent says Sussman and companies have to comply with numerous elements, including equity ownership, management & control, employment equity, skills development and preferential procurement, amongst others.

“Skills development and control of the modern ICT enterprise are priority aspects of empowerment strategies today. These sectors are of critical importance to the country’s socio-economic framework and this is why management needs to reflect a transformed, changed society,” Sussman adds.

Level 4 status is confirmation of Integr8’s progress and advancement within the modern market – and an endorsement of its empowerment strategy to service the competitive ICT managed services space.

According to Sussman procurement and governance are central to the development of these sectors, which both contribute significantly to the economic growth of the country.

“We have always advocated service delivery that leads to true empowerment and that result in the transfer of real benefit to people and their communities. We are also acutely aware of the shortage of technical skills sets and we have targeted our training and practical skills development at helping to address this challenge,” he continues.

Management at Integr8 believe that at this important juncture in the social transformation of the country, it is imperative that corporate South Africa keeps up with- and supports this change.

Corporate Social Investment programmes, training and on-the-job workplace experience have all been identified as vehicles through which companies are attempting to add value to the objectives of transformation.
