New Entrance Sign to Conejo Valley YMCA Honors Community and Joel McCrea Family

PRLog (Press Release) - Jul. 18, 2012 - On July 27, a new monument sign will be dedicated at the Conejo Valley YMCA honoring the community for its long-time support and the Joel McCrea family for donating  35  acres of land on which the Y currently serves children, families and seniors. The sign dedication ceremony will be at 6:00 p.m. followed by a barbeque at 6:15 p.m. and a campfire and s'mores at 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the community.

   The Conejo Valley YMCA has been serving the Thousand Oaks, Moorpark and Santa Rosa Valley area since 1964. Western movie star Joel McCrea and his wife Frances donated part of their family ranch to the Y that same year. "Donations from the McCrea family and other key leaders made it possible for the Y to build a new monument sign that updates our Y logo and spells out exactly what we stand for: youth development, healthy living and social responsibility," says Erin Pierik, the Conejo Y's executive director. "Bring your friends, family and picnic blanket and enjoy the evening's festivities."
