Visitors to the city centre live site on Thursday 19 July can follow Team GB as they take on the USA in a pre-Olympic basketball match broadcast live from Manchester Arena, starting at 7pm.
Team GB preparations continue on Friday evening (20 July) when both the women’s and men’s football teams take part in their last warm-up games before the Olympics begin.
Team GB Women play Sweden from 4pm followed straight afterwards by Team GB Men, who are up against five time World Cup winners Brazil, live from Middlesborough’
Both teams will then be back in action in their first games of the London 2012 Olympic tournament with Team GB Women versus New Zealand on Wednesday 25 July at 3.30pm and Team GB Men taking on Senegal the following night (Thursday 26 July), starting at 7pm.
Frances Jenkins, Swansea Council’s Strategic Manager for Tourism, Marketing and Events, said, “The Olympic Games is the biggest sporting event in the world and the big screen will provide everyone with the opportunity to enjoy all the action live in Castle Square.
“And with the screen broadcasting such a wide range of different sports including basketball we hope that as many people as possible are encouraged to Be Part of It! and enjoy the benefits of sport and exercise and join such clubs as the city’s very own Swansea Storm.
“It is also great to see that the Live Site will be showing coverage of Team GB Men’s football team which includes three players from Swansea City, more than any other team, testament to the success of the Swans in their first season in the Premier League.”
