Set Those Clothes Prisoners Free

Millions of clothes are held prisoner for over a year without seeing daylight. Their crime? They are not big enough for their owners. The multicharity clothes shop Click Collection wants them set free.

July 18, 2012 - PRLog -- A recent survey shows millions of clothes are locked away in this country without the opportunity for early release. They are banged up in UK cupboards without even occasional exercise. Many have not seen daylight for 12 months. Their offence? Most are just too small. Now http://www.ClickCollection.co.uk, the multi-charity online clothes shop is appealing to the high court of public conscience to set them free.
“These clothes have done nothing wrong” said a spokesperson from Click Collection. “They are innocent and clothes have a right to see the sun and feel the wind and the rain. If owners have kept them locked up for over a year without letting them out, it’s time to set them free to start a new life with someone else. We are here to help them find a loving new home. At ClickCollection.co.uk owners can release them easily and free without even needing to leave the house – just go to our website and order a free bag and we’ll pick it up. Everyone knows it’s the right thing to do because it will help a charity and a new owner at the same time. It can even reduce the amount ending up going to landfill”.
The new report by Govt- sponsored WRAP (Waste Resources Action Programme) has been welcomed by Click Collection. It shows that 30% of clothes in the average wardrobe have not been worn for a year, mostly because they don’t fit. These could be collected free from owners’ homes and donated to charity through Click Collection.
The report also shows that 66% of UK consumers buy or are given pre-owned clothes. The research indicates a willingness to buy more pre-owned if a wider range was available. ClickCollection.co.uk aims for their online multi-charity clothes shop to help make this easier, especially for people who can’t get to a High Street charity shop. Already providing a national clothes collection and online sales service for several charities, the fashion collection in the online shop is expanding daily.
Click Collection’s spokesman said: “The WRAP report supports our aim to change charity clothes recycling for good. Our collaborative multicharity online shop will make more high quality pre-owned clothes available to more people throughout the UK, even if they live in the middle of nowhere. And our secure courier collection from home means anyone can fill a bag, pick a charity to support, and have the bag picked up free. Let’s do good, let’s recycle more of those clothes and raise more money for charities at the same time”.
