London Bridgez brings Spoken Word to Afro Punk Battle of the Bands

PRLog (Press Release) - Jul. 17, 2012 - Boston, MA July 2012  –  Boston Native Spoken Word Artist London Bridgez, is competing on  Wednesday July 27th  at club Eye Candy in Brooklyn for an opportunity to perform at the 2012 Afro Punk Festival. London ranked 6th in an online virtual band of the band contestants. She and the other top 16th will battle out live on stage at several showcases.  Afro-punk is a platform for the other Black experience, the one we don't see in our media. D.I.Y (Do It Yourself) is the foundation.

The 2012 festival has the most stellar line up yet with Erykah Badu, Gym Class Heroes, Janelle Monae, Das Racist, Skindred, Toro Y Moi, Reggie Watts, Spank Rock, Ninjasonik, The Memorials, Bad Rabbits, Gordon Voidwell, The London Souls, Cerebral Ballzy, Phony People, Body Language, and more to be added! In addition, the Nike Battle For the Streets Skate and BMX Competition, the largest street skate and BMX competition in NYC will return this year with the nation’s top amateur skaters and BMX riders in a competition to be judged by top professionals in both sports. London Bridgez is a lyricist whose live performance is rooted in spoken word. Her style is Neo-Soul infused Hip Hop music often performed acapella or  accompanied by live band instrumentation or spin master DJ. Her performances bridge the worlds of spoken word, literature, hip hop and live music.

London Bridgez can be found locally performing at Lifted Boston at Om Lounge in Cambridge every Wednesday night.
