Jul. 17, 2012 - The story essentially revolves around the internal ideological struggle of the main character, Ismail. The ideological struggle begins in apartheid South Africa where he finds the ideology of apartheid to be inconsistent with his religious beliefs and decides to embrace the anti-apartheid struggle, including the armed struggle. That ideological struggle continues after apartheid between secular democracy in South Africa and his religious beliefs. This struggle runs parallel with another internal struggle that he endures between Islam and the West. The internal struggle eventually requires him to make a choice between life and death.
