The book’s superhero theme helps women picture themselves as heroines fighting off the enemies of doubt, guilt, shame, helplessness and intimidation (the main suspects in low self-esteem)
Dr. Nora Femenia, author of the book, stated that “when women are unmotivated and feeling negative, the situations in life that scare them are that much harder to deal with. It doesn’t help that society tells women that they are supposed to wait to be rescued. Here, I’m telling women that they have the power to come to their own rescue. I want to help motivate them!”
Much of the new book promotes the message that our outlook on life changes own life, even if outside circumstances remain exactly the same. That’s why there are points where the focus is on the reader and her self-view, as well as where the reader sees herself now and where she sees herself in the future. Some tips for success put forth in the book are (provided by Dr. Nora):
Practice thinking positively every day. Set your mind on completing one task at a time and envision a positive outcome for it and how rewarding having finished the task will be.
When talking to others, try your best to keep the conversation positive. It is easy to let others discourage you, especially when they have a negative outlook on life. Don’t let these conversations make you fall back into your old ways.
Be outspoken about the positive things in those around you and make a point of appreciating them, this way you encourage a positive attitude all around you.
Regardless of what you are doing in your daily life, try to see the good in it. It might be a tedious and bothersome task which you dislike, but you can relish the satisfaction of having it finished.
Never let yourself become distracted or hoodwinked into going back to negativity. It takes time to change the way you feel and think, and if you have been down on yourself and the world for a long time, then your new outlook will take a while to register and kick in automatically.
