National Dance Day is a grassroots initiative created by Nigel Lythgoe (executive producer and judge for TV’s So You Think You Can Dance) that encourages the nation, young and old, to move. Individuals, families, organizations and communities from across the nation come together through their creative expression in dance. Any style of dance is welcome and imagination is recommended in order to get the most out of this celebratory day.
Videos of two dance routines are posted online by the Dizzy Feet Foundation for people of all ages to learn. In advance of the event, Curtain Call employees and dancers from local studios will take the time to learn a routine and get ready to strut their stuff in the company parking lot.
Curtain Call Customer Relationship Manager Ashley Rohrbaugh came up with the idea for the company-wide celebration after learning of National Dance Day. “Our company is devoted to the art of dance. I can't think of a better way to show and share our devotion than to celebrate National Dance Day with our customers and the world of dance,” she said. “This year is especially exciting for us since we were able to involve dancers from the local community.”
Local studios participating in the event are: Innovations Dance Center (York, PA), York Dance Arts (York, PA), Richie School of Dance (Highspire, PA), E-Dance Center (Elizabethtown, PA).
