Their innovative pushchair product, Migration, which will be displayed in the Make it in Great Britain exhibition at the Science Museum between 24 July and 9 September, will be featured alongside exhibits from iconic companies including Mars, McLaren, Airbus, The Royal Mint and Sunseeker.
Manchester based inventor, Russell Clifton, had been working on the design of the product since 2009, but when it came to securing the finance he needed to develop his prototype earlier this year he found it - like many similar entrepreneurs - to be very difficult. He turned to FundingStore.com and within a few weeks had been introduced to an appropriate private investor and arranged an initial investment of £100k to complete his prototype.
Russell Clifton, Managing Director of Ruk-bug, said;
“It's well known that finding funding along with relevant, trusted advice, can be a time consuming and difficult process, whether you're an existing business or a start up. The knowledge and experience behind FundingStore.com proved to be invaluable. I was determined to design, manufacture and fund Migration in Britain and it’s a huge honour for Ruk-bug to be taking part in the exhibition alongside some of the nation’s most prestigious businesses.”
“Migration was created as the solution to all the niggles parents face on a daily basis and the fact that it has been shortlisted in the smarter category demonstrates we have achieved our goal! We’re launching Migration to market at the end of the year and are extremely excited about the next few months.”
Business Minister, Mark Prisk, said:
“The UK is full of creative manufacturing expertise, and I’m delighted that we are able to celebrate some of the best pre-market ideas through the Challenge.”
