Leeds Roofing Firm Plugs Shop Leak Following Heavy Rain

July 17, 2012 - PRLog -- Leeds, 17 July 2012: Visitors to a busy Leeds supermarket were saved from an uncomfortable and potentially dangerous shopping experience last month thanks to intervention from a local roofing firm.

Following heavy rainfall Tesco Express employees discovered a leak to the rear of their shop on Low Street in Leeds and immediately sought the help of DPR Roofing.

After a quick assessment, engineers located a leak close to a fire exit that was being caused by the poor condition of sealant around the door casings. With heavy rain still falling, water was being pulled through the frame by capillary action to the interior.

To rectify the problem DPR’s highly trained and experienced staff removed the remainder of the old sealant around the fire exit door and resealed it using a quality exterior water-proofing, and flexible, silicone. Whilst on site, DPR also overhauled the roofing membranes in the eaves area and fitted a new PVC eaves guard.

The emergency repair work carried out by DPR helped to not only keep customers safe and dry it also allowed the shop to continue trading.

Commenting on the project, Managing Director Darren Rickett said: “When we got the call from Tesco we responded immediately. A leaking roof can have major consequences, not just because of the potential damage but because the health and safety risk can force the retailer to have to close whilst the fault is fixed. For a Tesco store which is used all day, every day, this would represent a major loss in trade. Fortunately in this scenario our engineers were able to diagnose and rectify the problem in a matter of hours, so the risk was averted”
