BACK TO BASICS: A DIFFERENT KIND OF SUMMER HORSE CAMP
Learning from horses helps students overcome barriers
Hope Reins is collaborating with Neal Psychological Specialties to offer the Back-To-Basics School Skills Summer Camp! This summer camp is designed to give students ages 9-18 the essential skills and experience necessary to build healthy relationships at home, in school and in the future at work! If a student has ADD or other learning challenges this camp can teach the skills needed to succeed in school and in life!
The unique hands-on experience has the potential to help students overcome social, emotional and academic barriers in a manner not possible in the classroom. The unmounted Summer Camp will focus on building the core skills of respect, relationships, responsibility, boundaries and empathy. Through assisted learning techniques with horses, participants will gain insight into their own personalities and patterns of interaction and will learn problem solving skills to utilize throughout their life. Working with horses provides a different avenue for students to address and overcome social and emotional issues
Hope Reins is certified by EAGALA. The EAGALA model provides a standard and structure for providing Equine Assisted Learning sessions. The horses provide an excellent way for troubled youth to react when they are otherwise resistant. Equine assisted learning teaches many lessons on ways in which horses learn, react, and follow instructions, and students learn to apply these lessons to themselves.
The camp will be held July 23-27, August 6-10 and 13-17, 2012. Complete camp information can be found on the website at www.hope-reins.com.
