July 16, 2012 - PRLog -- It is performed through laparoscopy or key-hole route as part of research at Bombay Hospital. In this surgery a segment of last part of small intestine is interposed between two parts of small intestine just beyond stomach. Patients are usually sent home on the fifth day after surgery and can resume normal work two weeks after discharge from hospital.

Most of patients are in recovery care for one to two days due to their medical limitations and allowed to have liquids within twenty four hours of surgery. Some patients are encouraged to walk by evening on the day of surgery. The diabetic patient must follow normal diet after having liquid diet for one to two days and soft diet for two to three days after surgery. In order to maintain body metabolism at high levels patients are strongly advised to resume physical activities after surgery.

Patients after surgery are recommended to take long walks after ten days, aerobatic activities after twenty days, weight training after thirty days and abdominal exercises after three months. Ileal Transposition surgery is performed by Dr Ramen Goel who is highly trained gastro intestinal surgeon with twenty years of experience.
