July 16, 2012 - PRLog -- Scientists in the United State have isolated nine specific species within the species Aspergillus in section Versicolores that raises grave concern for every building owner.  While these odd names may sound too complex to bother many, the health impact may be something workers cannot ignore.  While everyone will be impacted by the building air quality, nearly every building has one or more person that is susceptible to the chemicals and toxins in the air.

There are nine variations of Aspergillius recognizable species.  The most commonly form this mold found in the US is Aspergillus creber, Aspergillus protuberus and Aspergillus jensenii.

Aspergillius is not as harmful as the black mold (stachybotrys), but is known to colonize in the lungs of vulnerable people.  Fundamentally, there is no good mold in the home of building although they have found medical use for mold, like penicillin.  If mold in the the building, you essentially have a biohazard that will get worse, but never better.

Aspergillus versicolor species product the mycotoxin sterigmatocystin, which can be a cause of Sick Building Syndrome.  Mycotoxins are toxins put out by mold as they spread.  In nature, mold plays a role in decomposition of organic matter, and the byproducts of mold have little impact on anyone.
