July 16, 2012 - PRLog -- A Rose in Desert breaks international boundaries by identifying the one thing every child has common, a birthday!  It is the story of a young girl, Rose, who awakens on her seventh birthday in the Tibesti Mountains of Chad.  She finds herself in a refugee camp. Rose is determined to have a beautiful birthday. She sets about her day with a positive and joyous attitude. Rose spends a lively day at school learning about the planets and the pyramids of Egypt. After school, Rose and her three best friends, The Fearless Foursome, visit The Cave of Dreams to play music, dance and laugh the afternoon away. Later, Rose receives some surprises, which remind her that life is full of wonderful things.  Her good friends and loving families are the most wonderful gift of all.

According to USA Today, “Sales revenue for all formats of children's and YA (young adult) books was up by 63.6% in 2011”.   Many of the books included in the sales study are for pure entertainment. “Books for kids today seem to be losing more and more of a positive message,” says Helene Vece of JumpStart Ink and Media Manager for author Chi Emerole.  “A Rose in the Desert is about making the best out of any circumstances and not being materialistic, which is timely considering the current economy.”

A Rose in the Desert sells on Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com for $10.95. The book is thirty-two pages and co-published with CreateSpace. Chi Emerole is the youngest of six children born to two Nigerian teachers in a small village that she fondly refers to as “Ogele City.”  Chi came to the United States at the age of nineteen.  She is a pediatrician and a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.  She is passionate about poetry, creative writing, travelling and improving the lives of children.  Chi Emerole and her family currently live in Atlanta, Georgia.
