Sketchbook And Artist's Pad Production Set To Boom At Alexander Paper Supplies

July 16, 2012 - PRLog -- It’s already known as the sketchbook-and-artist’s-pad capital of Cheshire yet Alexander Paper Supplies’ book production plant at Crewe’s Marshfield Bank Industrial Estate is in for a period of dramatic growth, according to MD Sandy Cowen.

Significant investment in a range of new machinery will see sketchbook and artists’ pad production increase to around 250,000 this year before rising to 500,000 a year in the near future.

“We anticipate seeing annual production break through the one million per year mark within three years,” added the businessman whose company supplies a wide range of sketchbooks as well as art and crafts products to schools and individuals across the UK.

“The popularity of our sketchbooks and artist’s pads meant it made sense to produce our own range, especially as we now offer bespoke books to certain customers including the education sector,” added Sandy, speaking from the production plant which employs two members of staff.

“Increasing book sales and the popularity of the bespoke products that we supply to some customers, caused us to purchase some new machinery which has enabled us to significantly boost production.

“The effect has been staggering. We can now produce a wide range of sketchbooks and artist’s pads, including spiral and stapled versions, all to our own exacting standards. The new plant and machinery that we now have on site means we have the ability to produce a wider range of bespoke products.”

Mr Cowen said that the growing demand for their range of sketchbooks and artist’s pads would also result in new job opportunities across the business. He was currently looking for an Internet Webmaster to be based at the Alexander Paper Supplies HQ at the Dagfields Craft Centre at Walgherton, near Nantwich, along with a Sales/Delivery person.

“Despite the challenging economic conditions, Alexander Paper Supplies has been very busy at both our sites,” added Mr Cowen. “Our customer base is growing and our sales are looking healthy. That’s why we are looking to increase our staff from a total of 8 to 10.
