Indian automotive segment records moderate increase in production during April-June 2012

Indian auto production has increased by 7.65 percent to 1,700,675 vehicles in June 2012 in contrast with 1,597,082 units in the year ago period, according to the industry body, The society of Indian automobile manufacturers (SIAM).

July 15, 2012 - PRLog -- Indian auto production has increased by 7.65 percent to 1,700,675 vehicles in June 2012 in contrast with 1,597,082 units in the year ago period, according to the industry body, The society of Indian automobile manufacturers (SIAM).

The period between April to June this year, India's domestic sales of vehicles clocked 9.94 percent increase over 15.14 percent posted in the same period, the previous year.

Passenger vehicles

The sales of passenger vehicles segment rose by 9.71 percent, passenger cars showed an upward tick of 5.22 percent, utility vehicle sales logged 50.85 percent rise while sales of vans showed a decline of 9.6 percent during April-June 2012 in comparison with the same period in 2011.

Commercial vehicles

The overall commercial vehicles segment sales showed an increase of 6.06 percent in April-June 2012 versus 14.10 percent upward surge posted during the same period last year. Sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles (M&HCVs) also dipped 11.99 percent and light commercial vehicles reported 19.92 percent increase during the period.
