New Source of Butylated HydroxyToluene (BHT) Available in the U.S. Market

Celeritas Chemicals announces the availability of a new source in the U.S. market for butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT)*, an inhibitor and anti-oxidizer of high industrial importance

July 13, 2012 - PRLog -- The ongoing restructuring and downsizing of the U.S. chemical industry has reduced the number of sources of important raw materials.  Many industrial chemicals that were available in the U.S. from multiple domestic sources are now only available from a limited number of foreign sources.

This is the case with the additive butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), also known as butylhydroxytoluene, an anti-oxidizer used in a variety of important industrial applications.  Recently major producers of BHT decided to exit the market, which is causing availability and cost issues to the users of this product.  In addition, quality problems may result when changing to a supplier that may not have the right purity grade for high performance applications.

Celeritas Chemicals of Southlake, TX is a company that specializes in providing assistance to companies affected by these changes, by providing them with alternative sources of raw materials and helping companies realize significant cost savings or solve quality problems.  Celeritas Chemicals has entered into a supply agreement with one of the world’s largest manufacturers of BHT, and will have this product available domestically. Celeritas Chemicals’ CELCHEM 31802-56 BHT has a target purity greater than 99.4%, which is higher than most of the equivalent products available in the U.S. market.

As an antioxidant, BHT preserves organic materials by reducing the effects of time, heat and light.  BHT also helps to protect polymers against the effect of heat and oxygen during drying operations, reduces the danger of cyclization during storage and processing and also helps to protect vulcanizates against autoxidation

As an additional benefit, production and supply chain efficiencies allow Celeritas Chemicals to offer this product in the U.S. at significant cost savings.
If your company needs a lower cost or higher quality supply option for BHT, please contact Celeritas Chemicals at (817) 421-3271 or on the web at www.celeritaschemicals.com
