2nd Annual Pet Food Drive Benefitting The Humane Society Of Southern Arizona

July 13, 2012 - PRLog -- TUCSON, AZ – Southern Arizona businesses have joined together to help Tucson’s homeless animals.  The second annual Dog Days of Summer Pet Food Drive kicked off July 3 and runs through September 3rd.  

The goal of the Pet Food Drive is to assist the Humane Society of Southern Arizona in feeding companion animals in their care.   Started in 2011 this annual event brings together southern Arizona businesses in order to help the homeless pets at the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.  

“Last year’s pet food drive collected nearly 1,000 pounds of much needed pet food and we hope to break that record in the first month” says Dawn Vandaveer, event founder and coordinator.

According to the Humane Society, it takes approximately 150 pounds of pet food per day to feed pets waiting for their forever homes.

Canned Puppy and Kitten Food (Chopped or Pate)
Canned Dog and Cat Food (Chopped or Pate)
Dry Food for Dog, Cat, Puppy and Kitten

Esbilac Milk Replacer
Peanut butter (plain, unsalted) for Kongs
Treats, too! Dog Biscuits (no dyes) & Cat Treats

This year’s Pet Food Drive will include many special events, including a fill up the Waggin’ Train at Funtasticks Family Fun Park, Bark in the Park with the Tucson Padres and Free Jr. Frosty Days at participating Wendy’s.
