In his contest entry, Mr. Powell stated, “As a veteran, I would love the opportunity to start an inventory business. I have researched several business opportunities and the Hartman’s Inventory Systems is a perfect fit for me and my family. During a home break-in a few years ago, several of my personal possessions were stolen. I filed a police report, but while filing an insurance claim I realized I wasn’t prepared for the unexpected. Several of my possessions were not replaced because I had no documentation and was not prepared.”
This comment made it apparent that Mr. Powell has first-hand knowledge of the need for an inventory of the contents of one’s home and business. This was one feature the Hartman’s were looking for – the personal interest and understanding of what happens after a loss occurs.
Another key ingredient in awarding the business package was leadership. One of Powell’s personal references stated that he “has a can-do attitude.” The reference continued, “Every strategic movement of forces in Europe has been enabled by his outstanding leadership and incredible flexibility. Michael Powell is an outstanding Commander, who makes the impossible look easy.”
Founder of Hartman Inventory Systems, Mike Hartman, commented that being a self-starter is key to success. “Our business package provides the knowledge and experience we’ve gained over almost a decade, but each owner of their independent business must take that information and act on it. We are excited to have found exactly that in Michael.”
Powell concludes, “My military experiences have taught me that you have to be prepared for the unexpected. Hartman Inventory Systems is a business package that would allow me to assist people with being prepared for the unexpected. The support I will receive from Hartman Inventory will allow me to meet my personal and business goals.”
Hartman states that he believes we all need to give back when we can. Offering this opportunity to a veteran is one way to do that. He appreciates his business associates for their contribution to this contest as well. Internet Tech Specialists is contributing the marketing package that includes the newsletter template and a website, along with hosting, maintenance and SEO. Life and business coach J.Sewell Perkins, of the Success Coaches Institute, has donated the 12-week online course she created, The Secret Abundance Files, plus scheduled one-on-one coaching with the winner. Rounding out this generous business package, the National Inventory Certification Association is donating the certification modules for Mr. Powell to achieve a Certified Inventory Specialist designation.
Qualifications to enter the contest included the veteran submit 1) why he or she should be selected for this opportunity, 2) two personal references, and 3) a copy of their DD-214. The recipient was chosen by a panel of business owners representing a wide variety of business endeavors.
