The earliest Jaguar at the auction is a 1955 XK140 Fixed Head Coupe, one of just 842 examples manufactured for the UK market. It is estimated at between £28,000 to £32,000.
Also from the 1950’s are two striking examples of the XK150 Drophead Coupe. Both are perfect examples of why this model remains one of the most desirable post-war British sports cars. The 1957 model, which has undergone a lengthy restoration, is estimated at £60,000 to £70,000.
Meanwhile the 1959 model is one of only 622 made and now estimated at between £55,000 to £65,000. It is supplied with a significant history file complete with bills, receipts, photographs and correspondence between previous owners.
“These two XK150 models must be among the finest examples of their type for sale and we are extremely proud to be able to offer them for auction at the Silverstone Classic Sale. The even better news is that they are just two of a large number of superb Jaguars that we have at the event,” said Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions.
From the 1960’s is an E-Type FHC from 1963, probably the best all steel car in current historic racing. In 2011 alone it achieved class wins at the Silverstone Classic, Oulton Park Gold Cup, The Guards Trophy and the Goodwood Revival. This car is estimated at between £85,000 to £95,000, which is a fraction of its recent rebuild cost.
1966 is represented by a Mk.II 3.4 Litre Saloon, which has recently undergone substantial restoration works. It is estimated at between £10,000 to £12,000.
Just one year younger is another MkII 3.4, this time unrestored and estimated at between £7,000 to £9,000, which offers the very real prospect of a stylish entry into classic Jaguar motoring at an affordable price. It is presented with a luxurious interior that looks like the rear passenger compartment has never been ridden in!
Ending the decade is an exceptionally rare 1969 XJ6 Series 1 Saloon 4.2 Manual car with overdrive which is fully restored and boasts just one owner and shows just 13,000 miles from new. It is estimated at between £20,000 to £25,000, a fraction of the rebuild cost.
Moving forward to the 1970’s and four very distinctive Jaguars take centre stage.
They include a beautifully presented 1971 E-Type S3 V12 2+2, estimated at £25,000 to £30,000. Its mileage is also incredibly low at just 32,000 miles from new.
Up next is a 1974 E-Type Series 3 V12 Roadster with manual gearbox, estimated at between £40,000 to £50,000. It comes complete with the original log book, all annual MOT’s and service invoices, plus very low mileage of just 26,000.
There is also a 1975 XJ Coupe, estimated at between £11,500 to £14,000, which has been run very sparingly by one owner for many years before being sold back to the garage where it was originally bought from and who did all the subsequent servicing.
It comes to market in astonishingly original condition and at the time of cataloguing it has just 38,300 miles on the clock.
Last but by no means least, is a 1977 XJ12 model, estimated at between £25,000 to £30,000, which has been painstakingly restored, with the repaint alone costing some £7,500 in 1990. Adding to its appeal is its rarity being one of only 1,200 models ever built, plus that it is also a winner of more than 18 national concours competitions.
