This creative career workshop may change your life. BEYOND THE CRAFT is an intense full day workshop for working and aspiring actors, writers, directors, key crew, singers, comedians, journalists, authors, designers, musicians, artists, producers, and entrepreneurs. It is a bottom line, no bull and insider's approach to doing what you need to do to make a living creatively in this economy. It is also a primer on how to be proactive in your creative career.

Former ICM agent and award-winning writer, director and producer Jim Jermanok will distill 25 years of professional film and entertainment experience into an empowering, nuts & bolts, bottom-line, no bull workshop. Rarely has a former agent at a major agency been available to give his uncensored take on creative career success.

Jim will cover the following:

•   Distinguishing yourself
•   Creating superb promotional materials
•   Pitching yourself and your projects
•   Understanding and succeeding with agents and managers
•   How to obtain and complement agents and managers
•   How to find, approach and convince reps, talent buyers and other gatekeepers
•   Working in film, television, theater, and new media
•   Current status of the entertainment/media industry
•   Effective networking and an easy networking system
•   Art of the Schmooze
•   Assembling a team whose sum is greater than its parts
•   Importance of informational interviews
•   Using your life history
•   Essential social media marketing

Jim Jermanok has spoken to dozens of audiences worldwide at colleges and universities, film festivals, theaters, and media/arts organizations on the 25 years of wisdom he has acquired on succeeding in the world of entertainment. For the first decade of his career, Jim was employed as an Agent at the premier entertainment agency, ICM (International Creative Management) where he represented Alan Arkin, John Guare, Helen Hayes, Arthur Miller, Shirley MacLaine, Dudley Moore, Henry Winkler and General H. Norman Schwarzkopf, among others. There, he was privy to understanding what tools and qualities actors, writers, directors, and producers used to succeed in the entertainment industry.  What they have in common in contrast to the majority of creative folks who fail to make a living in their chosen creative field.

Jim Jermanok took his clients’ advice and for the past 16 years has work as an award-winning writer, director and producer in independent film, theater, television and new media. In 2003, a full-length feature romantic comedy he wrote and produced, "PASSIONADA," was released by The Samuel Goldwyn Company domestically and by Columbia Tri-Star internationally in over 150 countries.  He receives high praise from all the prominent film critics, including "Two Thumbs Up!" from Ebert and Roper. In 2008, Jim produced "EM," an intense romantic drama by the gifted writer-director, Tony Barbieri ("The Magic of Marciano").  "EM" had it world premiere in June 2008 at the Seattle Intl. Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Film from among the more than 200 entries.  It had a worldwide release late last year by Vanguard Cinema and SnagFilms.

Now Jim Jermanok wants to pass along this wisdom to others in a compelling way with his acclaimed and authentic workshop, BEYOND THE CRAFT: What You Need to Know to Make A Living Creatively. This workshop is intended to communicate exactly which qualities and tools successful creative professionals and students need to make a living creatively. It utilizes the distinct approach and philosophy Jim has cultivated over the years to make a living as a creative professional. It is also intended to help liberate creatives from solely depending on others, like agents, managers, casting directors, directors, and producers.
