July 12, 2012 - PRLog -- Buyers of luxury real estate in Costa Rica have become more and more specific about their criteria for their luxury home in paradise.  For some a second home ownership becomes a huge challenge when it comes to deciding the style and the location.
Costa Rica offers several regions that attract foreign buyers thanks to its natural beauty, but the South Pacific Coast of Costa Rica is one of the favorite destinations mainly due to the fact that the coastal highway makes it so easy to travel along the coastline and connect with the Capital City and the Central Valley, and also because of its year round green forest and incredibly beautiful natural surroundings.  Driving along the coastal highway, the ocean meets the green forest and the houses are like hiding inside a jungle like setting.
Villa Selva Mar http://www.costaricamilliondollarhomes.com/Casa-Villa-Selva-Mar/index.html  is the best example of tropical architecture at its best, where nature and luxury mix in such way that one becomes part of the other.

It is the essence of the perfect home in which the natural world is incorporated in every room of this architecturally exquisite home. Nestled below primary forest and completely surrounded by a 3,000+ acre single property with conservation easements and old plantations, the home is very private. Large numbers of toucans visit the property in the afternoons; howler and capuchin monkeys cavort in the trees regularly, scarlett macaws now live in the valley and whales can be spotted swimming in the Ballena National Park below. Architecturally the house is simply elegance, made entirely of fine local hardwoods, the house has a rich, lively feeling. It is described as a tree house, as a mountain home, and a beach house all in one. The house was completed in 2007 and was built of several types of the finest local hardwoods, including 32 8”x8”x8’ corteza columns, floors and ceilings of guapinol, and a 3,000 square foot deck of nispero chicle. In addition to staff housing, there are 3 buildings - the main house, the spa suite and the office/media room. There are 4 bedrooms each with their own bath, and a half bath off the main living. There is a modern kitchen with all the amenities and an outdoor grill. All the bedrooms access the natural world the house inhabits, with doors opening to decks and treetop canopies. The property offers lots of amenities for families and adults. Although it is private, it is a short drive to town, grocery stores, restaurants and beaches. Onsite, a lap length swimming pool with great depths for all size children, a full gourmet kitchen, media room and current exercise equipment are all offered.

The property:
The property is a 15-acre private estate nestled inside a 3,000+ acre family farm raising small herds of cattle, native plantations of teak and various hardwoods like corteza and almendro. The farm also includes several conservation preserves with a 350 acre primary forest preserve directly adjoining the property. Located 750 feet above and a mile and a half back from the Pacific Ocean, the main house sits atop a jungle ridge with 360 degree views. The 3,200 sq foot deck abuts a primary jungle canopy from which you can hear waves breaking and spot breaching humpback whales in Latin America's first national marine park - Marina Ballena. From this spot one can watch the sunrise over the conservation preserve and allow the famed whale's tail to reveal itself. At night, because of intervening ridges, the property is spared the light pollution of nearby Uvita with only 9 small lights visible below. On a clear night, one can see the twinkling lights of Drake Bay, 30 miles away across the ocean. During the day, Cano Island and the ridges of the Osa Peninsula are also easily visible. On the other side of house, views of mountains with densely forested canopies rise from the riverbed valley to 4000 feet. From these mountain tops, the Morete river flows by the property. A walk from the compound through primary and secondary forest leads you to a 50 foot waterfall on this river with natural ponds for swimming and picnicking. The close connection between the mountains and the ocean allows for the diversity of wildlife enjoyed from the property. It is home to 300 species of birds, toucans and parrots flock in the dozens, 2 species of monkeys and sloths call it home, anteaters roam, dart frogs hop and cotamundis and agoutis reside. From the 3,000 sq. foot deck you can observe breaching whales and both gorgeous sunsets and sunrises… Under jungle canopy, overlooking Parque Nacional Marino Ballena, surrounded by a wildlife refuge, this property is where luxury, relaxation and jungle meet.
This is a naturalist's paradise.

The Location – Uvita and Dominical, South Pacific Coast
The Osa Peninsula is in the southernmost Pacific region of Costa Rica. It is famed for its natural beauty and its unique geography, in which mountains meet ocean. The Osa Peninsula, south of Uvita, is world famous for its biodiversity. Osa is said to have more species of trees in a single hectare than all of France. Uvita is famous for its National Marine Park Ballena, which is the birthing ground of humpback whales from both the Arctic and Antarctic. Whale watching is in high season between December and March and July and October every year. From Uvita recreating at sea is easy - boats leave the bay for whale watching, snorkeling and diving daily. World-class sport fishing is also available. From the house the nearest beach is Playa Hermosa, which is a 5-minute drive. Dominical’s long surf breaks are 15 minutes and Playa Ballena is also about 15 minutes. From Dominical to Ojochal you will experience a multi-cultural community. Residential tourism has been popular here because of the beauty, security and ease of life. Thus, you will have access to a wide range of restaurant choices from sand floored surf spots in Domincal to Haute French Cuisine in Ojochal all of which is no more than 20 minutes from our house. Going 15 minutes south the French/French Canadian community of Ojochal offers quaint restaurants with sophisticated cuisine. In addition, Uvita has two full service grocery stores, a pharmacy, a doctor and dentist office, an indoor sports facility and range of recreational activities.

Schools:
Access to first class education for children is available ten minutes from the property with the highly recognized bilingual school, Escuela Verde. The Director holds a Yale University PhD, the school boast professional teachers and staff, and a brand new building with the best standards for modern teaching. The school describes itself as: “a family centered, nurturing community inspires children to discover their fullest potential on the road to lifelong learning. Research shows that a basic education must address the needs of the total child. Social, physical, emotional, and academic growth are inter-related and are of equal value. When a child feels accepted and respected, he develops and extends his innate desire to learn.”

Entertainment:
The Uvita Information Center has a concierge service to help plan your visits. They can arrange local travel, tours such as birding, whale watching and horseback rides, and offer advice on a range of local services such as massages on the deck and dining out and catering options.
