Membership in the Long Island Volunteer Hall of Fame is a prestigious honor bestowed upon leaders in the nonprofit community. Since its inception in 2001, 135 deserving individuals have been inducted into the Long Island Volunteer Hall of Fame.
For the second year in a row, the Long Island Volunteer Hall of Fame will honor an exceptional Long Islander with the Inspirational Service Award. This award recognizes a volunteer who has made a significant impact through a commitment to community service. This individual inspires others in his/her life and serves as a role model for volunteerism. Last year’s recipient was Victoria Ruvolo, the victim of a senseless attack when a young man threw a frozen turkey through her windshield on the Long Island Expressway in 2004. She has tirelessly volunteered her time and shared her inspiring story of forgiveness with at-risk youth.
The call for nominations will run from July 12 to September 30, 2012. Nomination forms can be accessed at http://www.livolunteerhalloffame.org/
