Event Synopsis:

The final regulations issued by the Departments of Treasury, Labor, and Health and Human Services under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act on February 2012 require group health plans and health insurance issuers to provide their clients with a Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC).

The SBC is a summary of information that includes detailed health plan benefits and coverage of the beneficiary. It also includes a glossary of terms commonly used in health insurance coverage to give insurers a clear and comprehensible understanding on what their health plans will cover.

Compliance for the final rule will roll out on September 23, 2012. Providers must prepare SBC’s as soon as possible as failure to comply with the new rules is subject to penalties. Are you ready?
