“Jim is one of the most respected construction professionals in the Houston area,” explains McCarthy Texas Regional President Mike McWay. “His technical and industry knowledge, along with his enthusiasm for delivering outstanding building solutions, will be a strong asset to our clients, partners and employees. We are excited to have him on board.”
Prior to joining McCarthy, Stevenson served as CEO of Houston-based W.S. Bellows Construction Corp. Joining Bellows in 1981, Jim began as a project manager, working his way up to vice president and finally CEO in 2007. In addition to providing strategic oversight for company operations, Jim’s diverse experience includes project management, safety, risk management, business transactions, contracts and human resources.
A long-time Associated General Contractors (AGC) Houston board member, Stevenson currently is serving as the 2011/2012 AGC Houston chairman of the board. He is also leading an important Houston industry initiative called the Construction Career Collaborative (C3) for a sustainable craft workforce, and has been doing so since 2009.
“Houston is a vibrant community, and all indications point to continued growth in the region in the foreseeable future,” explained Stevenson. “McCarthy has been building in Houston and throughout Texas for years. The combination of McCarthy’s national resources with diverse local expertise creates a valued construction industry expert for owners in Houston, and I am excited to join the team.”
“We couldn’t be happier that Jim will be joining our family,” noted McCarthy Chairman and CEO Michael Bolen. “His deep understanding of our business and a genuine approach that aligns with ours will surely make him an outstanding leader in our company and trusted resource for our clients and partners.”
Stevenson holds a bachelor of science in building construction from Texas A&M University and a doctor of jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law.
