“Parents and children will develop stronger relationships if the emotions we use to make parenting decisions are understanding, peace, and love, rather than tension, anger, and frustration,”
The eight-week seminar will be held each Sunday from Aug. 19-Oct. 7 from 6-8 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, 20432 Highway 59, Tarkio, Mo. The cost is $200 per individual, and $300 per couple, which includes child care. For registration and information, including early registration discounts, and available scholarships, please telephone (660) 736-4129 or email fbc@faithinhim.net.
“I’ve seen it all: alcohol and drug addiction; sexual, physical, and emotional abuse; mood disorders; ADHD and other behavioral disorders; lying; and hoarding,” says Thom, owner of Ken Thom Counseling, Inc. in Maryville, Mo. “This seminar can provide techniques for meeting and overcoming each family’s own challenges, no matter how large or small they may be.”
“Our children are facing a multitude of stressors today that we and our parents never dreamed of, which leads to challenging behaviors in our children. Some of the behaviors we’ll be addressing include lying, stealing, hoarding, aggression, and defiance,” said Thom, whose counseling philosophy utilizes Christian principles with the Post Institute Stress Model™.
Thom, who is also the author of “Christian Parent Wisdom,” received a B.A. from the University of Missouri, and Masters of Science-Counseling Psychology, from Northeast Missouri State University. He specializes in assisting individuals, families, and children in trauma or distress. For more information, visit http://kenthomcounseling.com/
